5th Annual Marine Mud Challenge

Chip timing race results from RMS: http://www.rmssports.com/results/11MARINEMUDRUN.txt

We wanted to thank the teams that provided a lot of extra motivation on the course and we'll officially do this next year by creating a spirit award.  This year, we'd like to recognize the Mud Spankers, Golden Boy LAX and  DT Fit Hellrunners for their outstanding esprit de corps during the event. More soon.

Runners  -please review the schedule for Saturday - especially if you're registered for the 3 mile fun run!!!  You can check in as early as 8am but you should consider showing up later since you will not start the 3 mile fun run until all competitive teams are finished with the race at approximately 11am.  If your fun run team arrives early and is annoyed with the wait time, that's your fault not ours. :)

7 mile fun run teams - you need to check-in between 7-8am, be in the starting area behind the Lowes by 815.  You will start the race as soon as all competitive/chip-timed teams have started the event at approximately 920ish.

Latest updates:
  • ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT WILL CLOSE ON THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 8TH AT 5PM. RACE DAY REGISTRATION WILL BE ALLOWED BUT NOT PREFERRED. NO GUARANTEE FOR RACE DAY REGISTRATION ON SHIRTS OR SHIRT SIZES.  REGISTER ONLINE PLEASE.
  • We added a new team category - the 7 mile fun run.  All teams in this category will start the competitive course in the last group of runners so that the competitive runners get "first dibs" on the course.
  • Check out the Challenges and Obstacles page for video links of challenges provided through the support of Crossfit Vitality & Davidson
  • We only have one devil dog team signed up so far. This team category will have a serious challenge at our race so if you think your team's up for an extreme Marine Mud Challenge, this is your category!
  • The course maps are online as well as a course description.  Actually, we've made a bunch of updates so please review all of the web pages that we've added or updated.
  • For the military candlelight vigil, it's very likely that we'll move the vigil from the college to downtown Belmont so we can have more support from their crowds.

9-10-11, Yes September 10th, 2011 has been selected as our next Marine Mud Challenge at Belmont Abbey College.

What's new for this year's mud run:
  • Biggest change - we'll start the races at the Belmont Lowe's and Wal-Mart.  This will allow us to park more people, get Belmont Abbey College students involved in the race and it'll add 1 mile to the competitive races.
  • We're partnering with Belmont Merchant's Association to incorporate pre-event registration with their Friday Night Live in downtown Belmont.
  • The competitive race will be 7 miles with 40+ obstacles and physical challenges, around 1000 feet of mud pit activities and plenty more Marine motivators.
  • The fun run will be about 2.5+ miles with plenty of challenges and around 1000 feet of mud pit fun.
  • we're adding a new team category called the Devil Dogs.  Each member of the Devil Dog teams will be required to wear 40 pound backpacks for the duration of the race.  They will also be the first teams to start the event.
  • we will have kiddie obstacle courses and a kids run through the main mud pit.
  • We'll post more info as we continue to build this year's races so check this website often.
  • For previous race participants, you will be offered a chance to get reduced event fees.  The cost per person is going up to $30 to cover our chip timing fees.
  • And on Friday night before the race, we will hold a candlelight vigil for anyone who'd like to honor their military family or friends.  This will serve as a fundraiser for Operation HomeFront.

More soon!!!
