Welcome to the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Greater Charlotte’s web site. The Council was created through a partnership between Marines from 4th Maintenance Battalion and former, retired and family members of Marines.

The Council is registered with the North Carolina Secretary of State as a non-profit public corporation and is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the United States Internal Revenue Service.

The Council’s purpose is to:

  • To improve the quality of life of individual Marines and their families; whether active, reserve, or retired;
  • To promote an integrated, unified presence of the Marine Corps in the community;
  • To support the United States Marine Corps and its total forces by providing an organization capable of coordinating the activities of the various Marine Corps and Marine Corps - related entities in the greater Charlotte area;
  • To provide recruiting assistance through publicity, incentive programs and visible leadership.
  • To provide support to community outreach programs, and to Charlotte area charitable organizations.

The Racing Series is our primary fundraising arm.  As the race promoter, we host a series of racing events geared toward the adventure-driven people of our community who are looking for more than the usual 5/10K run.  Each event is challenging in its own right and will target a wide range of enthusiasts.

In 2007, we held two races. The Boots 2 Books race in January at Park Road Park in Charlotte which hosted more than 250 runners and it supported the Colonel Richard A. Christie Memorial. The next race, the Marine Mud Run, was held in Belmont in August with more than 250 participants and it supported a number of agencies that assist Marines and Sailors at the Wounded Warrior Barracks at Camp Lejeune, NC.

The Social arm of our organization hosts quarterly luncheons with a guest speaker addressing military topics of interest and provides an opportunity for Marines to get together and network or simply tell war stories.  This committee also prepares the annual gala event in October to recognize our racing series winners and thank sponsors.

Our speakers in 2007 were;

Our special events section coordinates with other philanthropic organizations to assist them in meeting their goals.  These events have or will include charitable motorcycle rides, band competitions, Toys for Tots, parades and other events.
